TRADITIONAL BUSH KNIFE - OLD HICKORY HUNTER (USA MADE)
There was a time in America that if you needed a knife you needed to make it. This was also a time where people camped to live. Living off the land; fishing, hunting, trapping, carving, processing wood, bushcraft etc. with basic tools was the way of life in a new place. The tools you did have, you treasured, maintained and they had to be able to perform a range of tasks. There wasn't the luxury of an EDC, hunting, kitchen, fishing etc specialised blades. So 'outdoors' knives, generally worn of the belt at all times, were designed to be general purpose - multi-functional to be the one knife for daily life.
Then people started making knives available for sale, like Old Hickory and Green River. Some of those knife designs have been in the making for over 95 years and are still popular today.
This is one of those knives. With a traditional wood handle and leather sheath it feels and smells good, like a step back to simpler times. There are loads of YouTube videos on this knife which says something.
If you're new to them, it may look a little unusual at first and that is because it is designed for function. It's a mix of a butcher, skinning, boning, fishing, carving and kitchen knife all in one. This is an everyday working tool, simply made for bush living. A reasonable price point, even with a leather sheath, as it has been made the same tried and trusted way for a long time.
If you're looking for a dependable camp or bushcraft or just like using a variety of blades, this knife is worth adding to the collection.

Jimmy's Tip: To maintain the handle and high carbon steel keep well oiled; where possible wipe with an oily cloth after use. To some the knife is not ready 100% out of the box and to make it at this price point the manufacturer has made compromises. A professional / skilled sharpen + filing the spine to sharpen it for a fire steel will finish it off to perform like a high-end knife.
