KA-BAR - MARK I - USN - CAMP KNIFE
WHAT THE MANUFACTUER SAYS:
A remake of the world famous Mark I USN knife, this updated version features epoxy powder coated blades for superb corrosion resistance and a non-reflective surface. Tang stamped USN. Leather sheath included.
WHAT WE SAY:
We really like:
- the feel this knife has in the hand (leather grip & pommel),
- it's compact size,
- it's versatility as an allrounder,
- the smell of the leather sheath & handle,
- the large round metal pommel,
- solid feel and quality construction &
- non-reflective blade.
If you're looking for that 'one knife' that is strong enough for survival tasks yet nimble enough for general camp tasks like slicing, consider the MARK I. This is at the heavier end of knives that we'd consider as a camp knife.
The MARK I has suprised us and after using it we feel it can be a great complement to your camp kit. While designed more as a tactical/survival knife we were surprised that it is still comfortable to use as a general camp knife, making it a viable allrounder in our books. If you have large hands the grip may be a bit compact for you.
We selected the MARK I because, to us, it is smaller and more versatile as a camp knife than the famous USMC; yet still strong and capable. Originally designed for the Navy in WWII based on the USMC.

Jimmy's Tip: This knife is always handy in the vehicle when on trips. Peace knowing it is there for roadside repairs and is good for lunch stop prep too. I keep mine with a KA-BAR Dozier Skeleton Knife which is handy for smaller tasks and find they go well together.
