FRY PAN KIT 1 - 310 - STEEL - FOLDING HANDLE - HEAVY DUTY
3 PIECE KIT = 310 HILLBILLY FRY PAN + CANVAS BAG (GEAR MATE 9) + HANDLE SLEEVE (GEAR MATE 11)
This could be the one fry pan you need for camp & has the potential to cover all your needs for simple trips away.
We mainly save this one for family/group trips with it's large size and it is spot on.
We love that it has a folding handle so it is easy to pack and fit in your tubs, drawers, bags etc.. the canvas bag completes the package, protecting the fry pan and you're other gear, often an awkward item to pack. The bag saves rattles on the tracks too!
We also like that it is:
- all steel construction (good for open fire or gas)
- not coated with 'non-stick' artificial chemicals
- made right here in Australia, VIC!
- gets better with age as it seasons
- simple to clean
We've included a GEAR MATE 11 in the kit to complete the job. It acts as a handle sleeve to protect the handle from rubbing the bottom of pan in transit plus eliminates rattles on the bumps. Brightly coloured in yellow so easy to find if dropped on the ground at camp. We love paying attention to the little things...:0)
Care Note: This is made from high carbon steel that does not include a non-stick coating, so it requires 'seasoning' and a little TLC (see below) to serve you for generations. It is sprayed with a food grade coating for storage/transport & sometimes it may look patchy; this is normal. When you first receive it, gently wash in warm soapy water, dry thoughly & wipe with oil (all over). For best results, heat (160 for 10mins), allow to touch cool, oil all over; repeat process. The more you use it, the better it gets and requires less maintenance. Treat it to cooking some nice bacon or sausages to soak up the good oil.
Jimmy's Tip: Keep an oily rag with it at all times so it is easy to give it a quick wipe over after cleaning. We use steel wool lightly for a quick clean; the more it is used the less cleaning is needed as we try to keep the coating that has built up over time. Give it a good dose of oil pre and post use and it will look after you for generations. Every now & then give the canvas bag a gentle hose (garden) out and dry in shade.
